Drown

This series of poems was originally part of a small interactive Minecraft map of the same title. I decided to upload the poems seperately as well because I really like how they turned out.

Still Water

The ocean is

a blank slate

a mirror

reflecting only

bone and

myelin

no tongue

no teeth

no muscled jaw

to split

its awful

stones

in two

or teach

in gentle

tones

its waves

to turn

to glass

and break

Angel Eyes

An angelfish

swishes its fins

swiftly

in and out of

this body

through

coral

bones

tearing out

a home

with its

small mouth

bursting with

half-eaten eyes

and

swatches

of

skin

grotesque

and perfect

as any

lovely

thing

Seaweed Song

All the wonders

of the fertile

shore

with its

magazine-cover

mountains

and

sweet-smelling

lilacs

can never match

the briny border

of the pier

the air turning

to water

with each

hesitant breath

cursing beauty

in a siren's

warm hands

with laughter

flowing damply

through dead

teeth

Drown

The ocean's

bride

rips apart

her silken

lungs

and fills

her chest

with ink
